Education

Education is a priority in the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula and Virginia. Our public schools offer college preparatory, technical and vocational education. The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School lets high-ability 11th and 12th grade students apply math, science and technology to marine and environmental sciences. Private schools offer diverse enrollments, small classes and specialized programs. Most graduates further their education. With campuses in both the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, Rappahannock Community College offers general, 2-year education to prepare students to transfer to 4-year colleges and universities; occupational and technical training for high-paying, in demand skills; and non-credit adult continuing education and personal enrichment courses. Virginia has 100 places of higher learning, most of which are within a 3-hour drive of our area— including the nearby College of William Mary and University of Virginia which US News & Report called the 2nd and 6th best public universities in the nation in 2003.
